roadblock (28/7/24)
my mouth is full
of words
that can’t say
what they want to say
that can’t express their meaning
nor their feeling
that fail to find their way
out into the world
to hold a shape
to make a sound
to unfurl with the tongue
tasting nothing more
than hesitant
than absent
than reticent
a lack of emotion
solidified motion
locked in
locked out
an urgency to
scream and shout
to no good end
tear it down
tear it down
trample it
into the ground,
what use is language
when it’s always
misconstrued
misjudged, mistimed,
misfired, misaligned,
talk me through
this roadblock
beyond this scree
of shifting rocks.
