accolets (25/7/24)
aside
never before have I been the very first to loan a new book just in at the local library, but it happened two days ago, yes, I was the first to take it out, the first stamp in the date-return label on the inside, luckily it was a book I wanted to read and was casually waiting to get around to loaning it when it was available… what an accolade!… well, for me anyway, not weighed down myself by accolades of any sort, and perhaps not one you will regard as especially special… it’s a tiny accolade, an accolet…… that was the nightlight of my week, I know, sad, is it not… at the same time a book I’d ordered a few weeks ago has arrived too so not only have I got one I wasn’t expecting but one lined up primed as my next read once I’ve finished this one… phew… it’s exhausting, all this excitement, I may have to have another lie down…… it’s not the over-the-top, adrenalin-fuelled moments that keep us going, but the mundane ones that tie everything together and hopefully stop everything unravelling any more than they are, not they aren’t still unravelling, they are most decidedly so, dropping more stitches than I don’t… hey-ho, away we go, we’re on the road to never……

when I was younger so much younger than today I used to hear ‘varicose veins’ as, asparagus veins… in my defence… actually, I have no defence……
