shadow-other, 27/June/17

the difference between humans and crows is humans think they are clever, crows know they are.......
maybe I should leave it at that but just to say that's probably why crows are almost universally despised for one reason or another, humans hate the competition in having to admit someone is cleverer... envy is such a pitiful failing....... you only have to notice how people lump all black birds together as 'crow'... and yes, generically-speaking, they are corvids, but each with distinct characters and traits whether it's an a actual crow, or jackdaw, raven, magpie, jay, chough, nutcracker or even hoodie... indeed all quite canny, some more than others, in particular the crow itself....... and they don't all sport a black  plumage....... look in the eyes of any corvid to see an unnerving intelligence peering back.......
.... humans are just depressing..... admittedly also fascinating in an anthropological sense, obviously, being that's what they are, anthropological...... can't live with them can't live without them...... I despair when around them, of their arrogance, ignorance and blind stupidity...... they are natures absurdities wrapped in skin, a calamitous collision of intrigue and infuriation........ it's no wonder crows laugh at us.... that's what they're doing, that is when they bother to pay us any heed at all... I would too if I wasn't constantly screaming inside.... nails down a chalkboard, sometimes skulking behind other sounds, mimicking, panning from one side to the next..... gnawing......
.... crows can walk just like us, but unlike us they can fly without help.... they are our shadow-other, the one that got away, the one we can't control, the one we can't deny.......
