acro'bats, 10/May/17

free-falling full moon bats flit balletic in flicks and clicks and sudden turns... now you see them now you don't... their prey soon falling prey to a flight that's faster than the eye can see and quicker than the ear can hear....
echo

echo

echo-locate
echo-locate
locate
echolocate.... snatch!
snatching cranefly, midge, mosquito, moths, dragonflies and damsels now clearly in distress..... a seeming hard and laboured fight flays the cool night twilight air while full moon gazes down well-pleased to watch the skill with which each bat can switchback, somersault, acro'bats each one and all have found their place between the day and night as denizens of shadows shade they bide their time and shift their shapes from swallows into bats....... far from being blind as bats these bats aren't blind at all but see about the same as me and you and maybe slightly more but it's not sight you see that they will need to catch their midnight snacks but sound the sound of
echo

bouncing ripples, combing noise for more discerning perturbations, insectivorous reactions, if it sounds like food it must be food, it is! it is! it is food!...... the full-to-bursting silver moon still watches pleased to see this flap of bats who found their place between the day and night...
